In addition to creating a "sort by date" functionality which has been suggested already, it would be great if users could sort by other column names on the table such as budget, duration, and client.

Users have different goals when arriving at this project page. To avoid a "one-size-fits-all" approach providing a fixed view, giving a sorting affordance would allow users to search projects based on what they're looking for. Some might be interested to search from longer to shorter terms, others from higher budget, and yet others might want to search companies alphabetically.
